Our Approach
Our Vision
We offer service with honesty at our core. We want you to be in the loop of whats going on. This business has been operating since the 1930's, we want to make this a business that will continue for generations to come.
Our Story
Montgomery’s Sewing Machine Co. has been in this area since 1936, repairing sewing machines, opened by Harold Montgomery. In 1985, his son Ken Krantz took over the company and changed the name to Montgomery’s Sewing Center. Now starting in 2026, Chris Krantz, the son of Ken, has decided to be the new owner of what was Montgomery Sewing Center renamed as Krantz Sewing Machine Repair. Same service, same location, just a new name and a younger face. My Dad is still going to be working in the shop with me.

Ken Krantz
Founder and Owner of Montgomery Sewing Center
Ken has been working on sewing machines since 1970. He went to school in Chicago in 1973 to learn how to repair Viking sewing machines. He worked in the Montgomery Sewing Machine store in downtown Bloomington for five years. In 1985 took over the sewing machine company business, under Montgomery Sewing Center, and was reduced to sales and service to service.
Chris Krantz
Owner of Krantz Sewing Machine Repair
Still learning, but has taken over the business, renaming it Krantz Sewing Machine Repair. He is both technically and mechanically inclined. This is good because all the new sewing machines are computerized. With plans to have sales and service.
He also takes care of our inventory system, website, and social media
